If you are looking the ways to migrate your thunderbird mailbox items such as emails, contacts, attachments, calendars etc. You can easily do that by following the methods I am going to shared below.
If you have a Gmail account, you can use it to sign in to Thunderbird and then migrate your emails to Outlook. However, before proceeding, you will need to enable IMAP in your Gmail account.
To enable IMAP on your Gmail account –
· Sign in to Gmail.
· Click on the Gear icon > See all settings.
· Click on the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
· Scroll down to IMAP access. Select the Enable IMAP option.
It may show you a prompt to enter your Gmail password to verify yourself. Enter the Gmail password to verify yourself and finalize the changes.
Note – You will also have to enable the 2-step verification. You can do this by going in the Account settings > Security > 2-step verification.
After configuring IMAP and enabling 2-step verification on your Gmail account, sign in to Thunderbird using your Gmail account. Here is what to do –
· Launch Mozilla Thunderbird on your PC.
· Click on the Gmail email ID.
· Then, click on Email under the Set Up Another Account section.
· Enter your Gmail username, Email ID, and Password.
· Click on Continue.
· Select IMAP under the Available configurations and click Done.
Note – Usually, the 2-step verification is required in case of using Gmail in another email client. If you experience any errors while trying to use your Gmail credentials in Thunderbird, disable the 2-step verification in Gmail and retry.
Once you have successfully signed in Thunderbird using Gmail, follow the steps below –
· Right click on your Gmail account in Thunderbird and select New Subfolder.
· Give the newly created folder a name and click on Create.
· Now, move all your Thunderbird email folders to the Gmail folder.
· Wait for the Thunderbird to sync the migrated Thunderbird emails to Gmail.
Once it has completed syncing the copied emails, sign in to Outlook using the Gmail IMAP Account.
Note – If you have disabled 2-step verification in your Gmail account, enable it and then proceed.
· Launch Outlook on your PC.
· Click on File in the ribbon.
· In the Account Information window, click on Add Account.
· In the Auto Account Setup window, add your name, your Gmail address, and password in the respective fields.
· Click Next.
· The wizard will show you a dialog box asking for IMAP password. Enter it and click OK.
· Wait for the wizard to configure your Gmail account with Outlook.
· Once completed, click Finish.
Once the above process is complete, Outlook will sync all the emails including the new folder that you created in Thunderbird.
· Copy the folder with Thunderbird emails and paste it in your Outlook account.
· Now you have successfully migrated emails from your Thunderbird to Outlook account.
